A parade rider in New Orleans who can be seen hitting and kicking his horse in a video, has sparked outrage with local animal protection organizations. After the video was posted to Facebook by concerned onlooker Kelsey LaBore, it quickly gained a lot of attention.

Kelsey LaBore said the incident happened during the Krewe of Oshun parade Friday at the intersection of St. Charles Avenue and Julia Street. The rider can be seen violently pulling the horse’s reins, hitting the side of its neck and kicking its side to make it obey his commands. A member of the Humane Society of Louisiana has shared the video with several law enforcement agencies on Sunday and the organization is asking the public to call authorities if they can identify the rider.
